Tammy Schmidt Keener has a few, simple thoughts on the criminal justice system, everyone is innocent until proven guilty, everyone needs to follow the laws which not only includes law enforcement agents but also starts with law enforcement agents and a prosecutor’s job description requires them to do justice and not merely to get a conviction. As a former magistrate and prosecutor, she knows how to make her simple thoughts into reality.
Tammy graduated from Texas A&M in 1993 and went on to get her JD from South Texas College of Law in 1997. In 1998 she was appointed as Justice of the Peace, Precinct Two in Gillespie County Texas and was elected Gillespie County Attorney in 2001. As prosecutor she took her job description under Article 2.01 of the Code of Criminal Procedure very seriously and made sure that justice was done and to not to simply convict.
